Burglaries Hits New Silverton Housing Development

Silverton, OR – Over the weekend of April 5–6, 2025, the Silverton Police Department responded to a spree of 15 residential burglaries in a new housing development on North James Street, between Jefferson Street and Hobart Road.

According to the Silverton Police Department, the suspect or suspects targeted vacant homes, gaining entry through windows and leaving a trail of property damage and stolen goods in their wake. The crimes are being investigated as Burglary in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, and Theft in the Second Degree, reflecting the seriousness of the offenses.

Police reports indicate that the burglaries were concentrated in the newly developed area, a neighborhood likely seen as an easy target due to its unoccupied homes. While the exact value of stolen items and the extent of the damage remain under assessment, the incidents have sparked concern amongst law enforcement.

Police Seek Public’s Help

The Silverton Police Department is now turning to the community for assistance in cracking the case. Authorities are urging residents in and around the affected area to review any home surveillance footage from the weekend, no matter how insignificant it may seem. “Even small details may be critical to the investigation,” the department emphasized in a statement.

Detectives are particularly interested in identifying suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities captured on video or witnessed by residents. With the culprits still at large, police are hopeful that a collective effort from the public will yield the breakthrough they need.

Anyone with information, tips, or relevant footage is encouraged to contact the Silverton Police Department’s non-emergency line at 503-873-5326 (Option 1) or email policepio@silverton.or.us. The department has assured residents that every lead will be thoroughly pursued.

A Community on Alert

In their statement, the police reiterated their commitment to safety, noting, “Your Silverton Police officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to protect and serve the Silverton community.” They also issued a simple but powerful call to action: “If you see something, say something.”

As the investigation unfolds, residents are being encouraged to secure their properties and remain proactive in reporting anything out of the ordinary. The Silverton Police Department has expressed gratitude for the community’s continued support and cooperation, underscoring the vital role that residents play in maintaining the town’s safety.

With no suspects identified yet, the Silverton Police Department is dedicating significant resources to solving these crimes and preventing further incidents. The burglaries have rattled the sense of security in this growing neighborhood, but authorities are determined to restore peace of mind.

For now, the investigation remains active, and the police are counting on the eyes and ears of Silverton residents to help bring those responsible to justice. As the community bands together, the hope is that this unsettling chapter will soon be closed, leaving North James Street—and all of Silverton—safe once more.
