SILVERTON, Ore. Silverton High School’s second annual Car Show brought over 240 cars to raise funds for the school’s Mech-tech class to upgrade its tools and equipment. The event, held on May 31, 2025, marked the revival of a tradition that began in the 1970s but had been on a seven-year hiatus until last year, highlighting the Foxes’ renewed commitment to hands-on learning and community engagement.
The car show has deep roots at Silverton High, where it was a beloved annual event for decades before it paused in the mid-2010s. Its return last year was met with enthusiasm, and this year’s turnout demonstrated the community’s continued support for the Foxes.
“We’re thrilled to bring this tradition back for the second year,” a student organizer shared during an interview. “It’s a great way to fundraise for our Mech-tech class while giving people a chance to show off their cars.” The funds raised will go toward purchasing new tools and equipment, essential for the class’s projects and training in mechanical and technical skills.
Students in the mechatronics program organized the event, managing logistics and creating a welcoming environment. The show featured cars, trucks, and motorcycles, with participants ranging from local hobbyists to owners of vintage vehicles. The students crafted trophies for various categories, ensuring a wide range of vehicles were recognized. “We planned the car show, but we also made the trophies,” the student organizer explained. “We picked out as many categories as we could to cover as many cars as possible, and at the end, we announced the winners and gave them their trophies.”

Saturday’s event included food trucks and raffle prizes, creating a lively atmosphere for attendees. Admission was free for visitors, but the school raised funds through participant fees with all proceeds supporting the Silverton High School Auto Shop and mechatronics program.
Sponsors, including Andy & Diane Ulven Foundation, Oregon Precision Plumbing, Oregon Commercial Tire, Knucklebusters, NAPA Auto Parts Silver Creek, Helmer Automotive, and Potters, supported the event. The car show not only provided a platform for community members to display their vehicles but also showcased the practical skills and dedication of Silverton High’s Foxes students, who hope to continue this tradition for years to come.
