Silverton police officers and medical personnel responded to the Webb Lake area at approximately 11:37 a.m. Wednesday after a citizen reported seeing an individual who appeared to be deceased on a walking path.

The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the death of a 19-year-old female from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said the woman was believed to have been deceased for several hours before she was discovered.

The Silverton Police Department said the incident appears to be isolated and poses no known threat to the community.
